SCENARIO DETAILS
Gatwick Express Class 171
Southern has just acquired the Gatwick Express franchise and taken the decision to repaint all trains. This has led to stock shortages as Southern has decided to take all Gatwick Express liveried services out of service to be repainted. In their place they have tried to accommodate a very limited service using their Class 171s.
Task: Drive the 1836 Gatwick Express service to Gatwick Airport.
Semi Fast to Gatwick Airport
The Gatwick Express is undergoing huge changes as Southern have just won the franchise. However, they have taken the decision to take all Gatwick Express trains out of service for a much needed overhaul. This has led to timetable changes to the Gatwick Express services and has meant that Southern are utilising their Class 171s and Class 377s. The Class 171s are on the services that operate between Brighton and Gatwick and the Class 377s on the trips from London to Gatwick.
Task: You are to drive this Class 377 to Gatwick Airport. Try and stick to the timetable.
Early Morning
It is extremely early in the morning and the capital is only just waking up, but you've been awake for two hours to get ready for the service ahead of you. You will be working the 0453 all stations - except Battersea - to Victoria. Due to a storm last night, though, a lot of trains are in the wrong place and so there are quite a few empty stock movements going on.
Task: Drive the 0453 on an all stations service to Victoria.
Engineering Works! Semi-Fast service
There are engineering works on the line today between Balham and Clapham Junction. This has meant Southern are only running a partial service between Balham and London Victoria. The section of line between Balham and Clapham Junction has been reduced to only two tracks for today. Luckily trains are fairly infrequent due to it being a Sunday, but who knows what lies ahead. Southern are also operating a heavily altered timetable with many services left in depots.
Task: You are to drive the 13:42 Southern service to London Victoria. You will be calling at Haywards Heath, Three Bridges, Gatwick Airport, East Croydon, Balham, Clapham Junction and London Victoria. An all-station service is running late due to a signal failure earlier and so you may be held behind it along the route.
Engineering Works! Stopping Service

The section of line between Balham and Clapham Junction has been reduced to only two tracks for today. Luckily trains are fairly infrequent as it is a Sunday, but who knows what lies ahead. Southern are also operating a heavily altered timetable with many services being left in depots.
Task: You are to drive the 13:40 Southern service to London Victoria. You will be calling at the majority of stations along the route with some slight changes due to the engineering works.
First Gatwick Express ECS
First group have won the Gatwick Express franchise and today is their first day of operation. They have allocated many of their Class 377s to this route. During the peaks these services will then connect at Gatwick Airport with Thameslink services from London Bridge etc. First would like to operate the franchise out of a different terminus, but the Department for Transport have turned this down as it would require extra platforms and the line would not be able to cope with the extra traffic during peak periods. The trains that used to operate on this line have all been hidden away from public view as First group want a fresh start with this franchise; this includes more trains which are cleaner and brighter.
Task: Take this eight-car First Gatwick Express service in FCC livery to Gatwick Airport sidings where your shift will end for the day. Enjoy your time in this brand new unit!
Three Bridges Stopping Service
Drive a stopping service from London Victoria to Three Bridges on a wet evening. First have just acquired the Gatwick Express franchise so look out for some newly repainted trains en route.
Task: Drive this Southern Class 377 to Three Bridges on a stopping service.
Off To Bed
It's getting quite late and many trains are out of service. As a driver wasn't feeling too good, you are collecting this train to take it into Lover's Walk depot. It's only a quick journey but you still have passengers that need to get to Brighton.
Task: A driver has been taken ill and you have been tasked with taking this Class 377 to Lover's Walk Depot where it will be stabled for the night.
DEMO SCENARIO - Croydon Express
NB: The Scenario Pack requirements are needed for operation of this demo scenario.
Southern have decided to trial a new scheme which they have called 'Croydon Express'. This scheme is following on from the success of the Gatwick Express and follows the same principles. The only difference is that these services only operate between Gatwick Airport and East Croydon. As Southern don't have the units to operate this they have gone with operating loco-hauled services. The Class 47s and Class 37s are now in everyday operation once again and many people have said they prefer these services to the usual Class 377s.
Task: Drive this Class 47 to East Croydon and then onto Selhurst Depot for the overnight rest. You will not be stopping elsewhere.
Note: Traffic is light as this is a free scenario - the scenarios in the full Scenario Pack will feature much more AI with plenty of things to do!
