This expansion is licensed by the National Railway Museum and brings you five LMS Blue liveried Streamlined Princess Coronation locomotives along with appropriate tenders and also includes three scenarios on the Newcastle to York route. A set of Just Trains LMS Blue ‘Coronation Scot’ Mark 1 carriages complete this classic steam collection.
All the model are of the highest quality and feature accurate physics, realistic sounds, and truly impressive levels of detail.
The classic Coronation Class locomotive of the London, Midland & Scottish Railway is depicted here in the streamlined style that was applied to these powerful LMS locomotives when they were constructed at Crewe Works in 1937. It is believed that LMS's Chief Mechanical Engineer, Sir William Stanier, was not a fan of the streamlining applied to his locomotives, despite LMS wanting a streamlined design for their locomotives to promote an image of luxury and speed.
Ultimately the additional weight and the complexity of maintenance outweighed the increase in speed that the streamlined styling provided in the fierce competition between LMS and lNER over services between London and Scotland, and this styling was removed some years later when the locomotives became known as Duchesses.
