The solution: The Rheingold!
Wishing to be competitive and to bring money into its own country, the German National Railway acquired a few Pullman cars with the intention of creating a very special train in 1928. The Rheingold soon became genuine competition for the luxury trains of the CIWL. Consisting of First Class, Second Class and a baggage car, this train indeed provided a luxury that was on a par with the famous Orient Express. High quality cuisine ensured that passengers' well-being never fell short.
Having a nostalgic streak here at 3DZUG, we are bringing the luxurious Rheingold back into service. In the process we gave all wagons, both inside and out, a very realistic finish. All the wagons feature passenger views that are likely to be the most elaborate that have ever been realised. They are also completely accessible, whether you wish to enter First Class, the kitchen, Second Class or the baggage and customs area. For the first time after almost 100 years it is now possible to experience the train in its original glory.
Immerse yourself in a bygone railway era with five elaborately designed wagons - all with passenger view - as well as four scenarios. Realistic sounds, animated brakes and connected coupling and tubes complement this add-on.

RHEINGOLD 1962
It was the German equivalent to the famous Orient Express - the exquisite Rheingold. The German Reichsbahn introduced this luxury train as early as 1928, promising its illustrious passengers the utmost comfort and leaving nothing to be desired. Starting its journey in Hoek van Holland, it passed through the Rheintal before reaching its destination in Switzerland.
In 1960 the Deutsche Bundesbahn eventually commissioned new rolling stock for the traditional Rheingold. Just as with its pre-war predecessor, the new train was designed to beat all others in comfort and style and to allow a cruising speed of up to 160 km/h. With effect from the summer timetable in 1962, this unparalleled train featuring a unique dome car along with compartment and high-capacity coaches finally started service. Today it is rated among the best-known coaches ever. A further impressive innovation was the dining coach, a so-called 'Buckel dining car' - which featured a two-storey kitchen.
Our greatest desire was to realise this exceptional luxury train appropriately in Train Simulator and so, as in the Orient Express, we once again went out of our way! The countless materials and details used let the train appear extremely realistically. Apart from the four blue Rheingold-Cars provided, two further cars welcome you aboard. Unprecedented effort has been put into the interior of the dome car as well as the dining car. Whether you are heading for the bar, the restaurant or for the dome, all these areas have been realised with great attention to detail, even in the table decorations such as the coffee pots, plate inscriptions and flowers. And perhaps you will even find the miniature Rheingold on your exploration tour? If not, one of the highly realistic passengers will be happy to help. They are your constant companions whilst you travel on the Rheingold.

The 'King of Trains' or the 'Train of Dreams'– everybody knows the Orient Express!
What is not so commonly known, however, is that it was not merely a single train; the Orient Express consisted of several luxury trains and had its peak period in the 1920s of the previous century. The enormous network linked Europe from Amsterdam to Constantinople (today known as Istanbul), so let us whisk you away to this fascinating time of departure for new shores and extravagance in our Orient Express.
Developed using cutting-edge technology, you can travel back through time with us to the 1920s. Experience first hand what it meant to travel on the Orient Express, with its luxurious wagons and wealthy passengers.
As well as the realistic sleeper, this pack also includes the restaurant and the baggage wagon. The trains have the CIWL livery for Era 1 and Era 2 and it goes without saying that they feature the original destination signs from Amsterdam to Constantinople. Thanks to the resource-conserving modelling, both external and passenger view feature a very high level of detail without any adverse effect on performance.
