Why stop when things are going well? The resounding success of the ICE 1 set the stage for a sequel. A new, improved generation of high-speed trains was needed.

The masterminds of the former Deutsche Bundesbahn determined the requirements for the second generation of ICE trains. This train was to be used primarily on less popular routes, where an ICE 1 with an impressive 700 seats was simply not cost-effective. So the ICE 2 was limited to six intermediate cars, one control car and one power car. This train concept allowed two trains to be coupled together to form a double train if required.

After commencing operations in 1996, the ICE 2 was a familiar and welcome sight in rail traffic for over 20 years. With a top speed of 280 km/h, it had no need to hide from its big brother, the ICE 1. But, as all good things come to an end, the ICE 2 will be gradually phased out in the coming years. We think that's reason enough to keep the memory of it alive in Train Simulator.

That's why 3DZUG has implemented the ICE 2 with great attention to detail and in the usual high quality. Delivered in the current Deutsche Bahn re-design, the cars are individually manufactured and the passenger compartments are completely accessible. Relax in 1st class, visit the open-plan carriage or treat yourself to a refreshment in the on-board restaurant.

Expand your fleet with this gem and come aboard! 10 tasks for different routes complete the package.
