BR Class 86/2 & Mk2F Coaches

Compatibility: Train Sim World 5
This new add-on for TSW 5 will include the Class 86/2 electric locomotive with the air-conditioned Mk2F Coaches and the Mk.1 RMB Buffet Car, all of which are Livery Designer compatible.

The Class 86/2 - the forerunner to the Class 87 - was employed on the West Coast Main Line and pulled both passenger services and the occasional freight service. The 86/2 was a sub-class of the 86/0 and had an improved suspension set-up to rectify issues experienced by the earlier 86/0 locomotive such as rough riding and track wear. The maximum speed of the 86/2 was set at 100 MPH. You will be sure to enjoy the authentic and distinctive sound set.

Our Class 86/2 will feature accurate modelling inside and out along with access to the machine room area, with some of the controls in that area being operational. Four liveries will be provided along with a set of realistic scenarios.

As well as air conditioning, the Mk2F coaches feature the much more modern-looking rectangular windows, compared to the older square type with sliding ventilation sections at the top. The Mk2F coaches also have a considerably more modern interior than the older wooden interior.

The Just Trains Class 86/2 coupled with the Mk2F Coaches and Mk1 RMB Buffet Car will give you a powerful combination to drive and enjoy!

Development Updates

CLASS 86/2 CAB CREATION

Excellent progress is being made on the Class 86/2 and this latest in-development update covers the internal areas and in particular the differences between the Class 87/0 and Class 86/2 cabs. General consensus is that the class 86 and the 87 are ‘basically the same’ and although that is not untrue in some areas, as normal, the devil is in the detail! We will let the (lovely we think!) images do the talking but for those who want more details here they are!

06 December 2024

Welcome to this the first of our Development Entries for our BR Class 86/2 & Mk2F Coaches.

Our first entry shows the Class 86/2 model in various states, firstly with no textures, which is the state that the physical model gets created in. When we are happy with the model then we apply the textures. Both the Intercity Executive and BR Blue liveries have the distinctive yellow front area which is designed to make the locomotive as visible as possible as it approaches.

A quick and easy way to tell the differences between the Class 87 and Class 86 is that the Class 86 has three front windscreens v/s two for the Class 87. These pictures show the stage before the Locomotive gets placed into Train Sim World.

That's it for now, we'll be back soon as development work progresses on the loco and the coaches.
